Mellow Monday: I am a Bicycle Thief
Okay so I am not really a Bicycle thief. I just liked the title and I had this song called "I am a bicycle thief" from Freezepop stuck in my head. Just thought I would mention that to start. :) Our friend from Michigan was telling us about a place called Mackinac Island where there are no cars. There is only one ambulance truck and that's it. Everyone gets around by horse drawn carriages and yep you guessed it bicycles! Can you imagine living in a place like that?

Gorgeous photos. Pretty vintagesque bicycles make me swoon. I've pondered buying one, but I don't think I actually want to ride it. Just want to look at it!
Beautiful photos! Honestly, I think it would be quite lovely living in a nice little quaint place like that. At least for a day maybe. But the sound of it sounds wonderful, peaceful and stress-free :O)
Oh... I love the flowers in the basket!!
Happy day to you Rachel ~~
xoxo
Beautiful..once again, I would like to step into the pictures.
Blessings, hugs, and prayers, andrea
Oh! Such beautiful pics! Love the basket of flowers!
I would love to live in a city where bicycle is the main mode of transportation- like Amsterdam or Berlin. Your pics are great! Makes me want a new/old bike.
wouldn't that be fun??? reminds me of martha's vineyard a bit...although there are cars there ;-)
Love these!
Happy Monday.
I heart bicycles! That island sounds like heaven! Hope you had the best Holiday! xo.
These photos are so beautiful and inspirational! I have an obession with vintage bikes. My sister just bought a very old schwinn cruiser that she is restoring. Old bikes have so much character.
Happy Holidays!
xx
I can imagine it quite well actually - I live on Mackinac Island year-round. This time of year we put the bicycles away for snowmobiles.
These images are pure magic, Rachel! The island we lived on this fall did have cars, but we only walked and rode bikes, and I LOVED every second of it!!
Wishing you a Happy New Year!
xoxo Gigi

They should forget about the horse drawn carriages and stick to bikes! I miss bike weather :(
I especially love the illustrations! How lovely!
I'm from MI & Mackinac is one of our favorite places to visit (almost every summer). We rent tandem bikes & ride around the entire island. Our friends own a B&B and butterfly house on the island and it's an amazing place to be.
Love the collection, especially illustrations! Here's my watercolor version of a lovely bike!

All the bicycle photos and the illustrations are absolutely lovely. My family visited Mackinac Island for a day when I was little, and I remember it seemed magical! I'd love to return as an adult. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a very Happy New Year!
Sweet bike art.
PS: Thanks for visiting my blog. Stop by for a chocolate chip waffle anytime!
I think that would be an utterly amazing life.
Of course, I don't drive and own to well-used
bicycles, so you are preaching to the choir.
Would so love a ride in a horse drawn carriage,
besides my yearly ride through Central Park.
Beautiful blog, by the way.
these have me dreaming. we got the kiddos bikes for Christmas and I can't wait till they are big enough to do family bike rides. for now we just walk fast right by them:)
I'm so happy I discovered your lovely blog! I love your inspiring, beautiful clusters -they are feeding my already daily, compulsive need to collect pretty photographs. There is beauty everywhere!!
Wow! I live in Holland and here we practically live on a bike. Seeing these pictures makes me realize how pretty they can be! I think I'm gonna pimp my bike! :)
I live in Michigan and love going to Mackinac Island. Nothing is better than riding your bike around the island and through town. It's a very lovely/charming place.
I lived on an island in Casco Bay called Great Diamond Island for a few years. No cars were allowed except the ferryboat shuttle bus, that was really more like a small SUV. (No bridges; mainland only reached by ferry.) Everyone rode in golf carts (one in particular decorated with tons of seaglass) and bicycles; it was nice and small and quiet.
These pictures are so charming and adorable I could gaze at them for hours...
Love these photos and the illustration! and the island you talk about with only bicycles sounds absolutely magical! I would love to experience that for a summer or two =)
My parents and brother got to go visit Mackinac Island, and said it was as lovely as it sounds... a few photos from their trip are on my Dad's blog:
