As you may know I am a paper junkie and so when I came across the pretty card shop called inkadinkadoodle I was smitten! I am loving their new Valentines Day cards and I just cant get enough of the pretty ruffle dresses in their designs. (HINT: They are giving away one of their beautiful box sets on The Lovelies!)

Sophie Isobel makes the most adorable brooches that are one off handmade. She just started making these precious heart brooches for Valentines day and I am absolutely in love! So adorable right? (HINT: She is going to be making a custom brooch for The Lovelies!)

I think what I love most about Toby and Max is the craftmanship that goes into each of her pieces and I am especially fond of her cuffs. Many of them say words of empowerment like "You can do it!" and "I make a difference". How lovely would that be if every time you looked down on your wrist you had some words of encouragement? Announcing The Lovelies!!!!

Oh I am excited! I am very pleased to announce the brand spanking new The Lovelies!!

I was going to wait until next week but I have already had a few people nominating so I want to make sure its fair. What is The Lovelies you may ask? Well its an award blog where you can nominate and vote for your favorite blog + shop! You may be familiar with The Homies on Apartment Therapy and the recent The Poppies over at Poppytalk. I saw that they are getting quite a nice following of people involved and we are always looking for new ways to promote our sellers and fellow blog buddies so naturally this seemed like a great direction to go. I sent out an email to all of our past and present sellers to see if they would like to giveaway a pretty prize and to my surprise I got around 36 sellers to contribute! Mellow Monday: Into the Forest

Happy Monday everyone! Last Friday I mentioned that I was going ziplining for our friends birthday and it ended up being really fun. My husband actually works for the zipline company and they have two courses. The course he works at we have done several times but I hadnt done the other course so I was excited to go. The other course is located in Haleakala and if you are familiar with Maui you will know that this is the much colder area. I bet it was probably around 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit which is really cold for us! :) The best part of the tour is that you are hiking and ziping through a beautiful eucalyptus forest. It was quite lovely and the views were spectacular so if you come to Maui you must check this place out! (www.zipline.com) Here are some images that I gathered from flickr that reminded me of that calm feeling that a forest provides.

Today I have been working on a few projects and adding more sellers to the site. I am going to go do some ziplining for our friends Birthday in a bit. I havent done this course yet so I am looking forward to it!

The Right Light

A couple of weeks ago one of our bulbs burned out in the bathroom and we didnt replace it right away. I noticed I wasnt fussing with my face as much because I couldnt see every pore and stray hair and I actually looked a little more tan. My husband was about to change it and I told him I rather keep it the way it is. :) I thought maybe it was a weird thing to do but if a little thing like that can make you feel better about the way you look why not right? We all have witnessed the right light where we look the best and we all probably wish that light existed everywhere. I was happy to see a short article that I ran into on this site called the live.love.LOFT that emails you two ideas a week that are short and sweet. She says: "Nix overhead lighting, which throws harsh shadows. Instead use eye-level lamps, sconces, and the ever-forgiving pink-tinged light bulb. Hanging mirrors tilted slightly downward filter and reflect light nicely. Beware of green, blue or gray walls and lampshades - those could zap the life out of a sunset. Think cream, taupe, pink and warm, cinnamon red." Good to know! Now this post could not be complete without a lovely cluster so I gathered up some of my favorite sconces that put off just the right light.

I think what I love most about these interiors is that they all have fairly neutral colored walls and floors. The occupants/designers all used decor and upholstery to liven up the spaces. Definitely easier to switch out a new look if your more in the mood for monochromatic. If you could design a space today around your mood what color/s would it be?
